Nuuk

Thomas Köner · 1997

Originally released in 1997 as part of the Driftworks box, Nuuk is one of Köner's clearest studies in Arctic stillness. The 2004 reissue expands the work into an audiovisual object, but the music alone already puts pictures in your head: low drones, pale static, and frozen intervals arranged with severe patience. Named after Greenland's capital, the album does not describe a place so much as suspend the listener inside cold air, distance, and dim light.
